1. Overview
SumScreen (“we,” “us,” or “our”) helps a parent or guardian create screen-time goals for children in their family. A parent creates a family, pairs a child’s device, selects a goal and reward, and uses Apple Screen Time controls on the child’s device to measure progress.
We use family and device information to run SumScreen. We do not sell personal information, serve advertising, or track children across other companies’ apps and websites.
2. Information we process
Information you provide
- Names or nicknames entered for parents and children.
- Family setup details, paired-device relationships, goals, time limits, schedules, rewards, and reward history.
- Messages you send when you contact support.
Information used to operate the app
- Anonymous account, family, profile, device, and installation identifiers.
- Screen Time progress for the apps or categories selected for a goal, including minutes used, limit events, and goal status.
- Opaque Apple app and category selection tokens. These help the device remember what to measure without giving SumScreen the content inside those apps.
- Notification tokens and delivery information used to send goal and status alerts.
- Basic technical and security records that our infrastructure providers may process, such as network requests, timestamps, and error details.
Information SumScreen is not designed to collect
SumScreen does not read message contents, photos, contacts, passwords, precise location, browsing history, or the content viewed inside tracked apps. It does not use advertising identifiers.
3. How we use information
- Create and maintain a family and pair devices.
- Sync goals, selected apps or categories, progress, and earned rewards.
- Send reminders and goal-status notifications.
- Protect the service, diagnose problems, answer support requests, and comply with law.
4. Service providers and disclosure
We use Supabase for anonymous authentication, database hosting, synchronization, and server functions. We use Apple services, including Screen Time frameworks and Apple Push Notification service, for monitoring and notifications. These providers process information for us under their own terms and privacy commitments.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect a person’s safety or the security of the service, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Children and families
SumScreen is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or legal guardian. A child device joins a family through the parent’s pairing flow. Parents control the goals and can delete child profiles or the family. SumScreen does not provide public profiles, social posting, or child-to-stranger messaging.
Parents and guardians are responsible for obtaining any consent required to install and use SumScreen on a child’s device. If you believe information about a child was provided without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain information while the related family or account is active and as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and support the service. Limited records may remain in backups or where retention is required for security, fraud prevention, or law.
In the app, a parent can delete a child profile, leave a family, or—if the family owner—delete the entire family. A child can delete the child device’s anonymous account and reset the app; the parent-created profile remains until the parent deletes it. See our account deletion instructions.
7. Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than where you live, subject to their legal safeguards.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information. The fastest way to remove family data is through SumScreen’s in-app settings. You may also contact us. We may need information sufficient to verify your relationship to the relevant account or family.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SumScreen evolves. We will change the date above and provide additional notice when required.
